Elena Caccamo
Born in Milan in 1994, the mezzo-soprano Elena Caccamo combines the operatic tradition with a strong vocation for contemporary and twentieth-century music.
Her early artistic training began in the Children’s Chorus of the Teatro alla Scala, appearing on stage from childhood in solo roles under the baton of great conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Gustavo Dudamel and Jeffrey Tate.
After graduating with honours with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatoire in Milan under Silvana Manga, she completed an advanced postgraduate course (EQF 8) in Historical and Contemporary Theatrical Singing.
Very active in today’s music, she has seen important composers write roles especially for her voice, including Dorian Gray by Matteo Franceschini and Lamberto! by Alberto Cara, as well as performing at major festivals and seasons such as the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago and the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Montepulciano, with the Divertimento Ensemble and with IRCAM in Paris.
Her repertoire ranges from the Baroque and bel canto (with appearances at the Festival della Valle d’Itria, the Monteverdi Festival and important Italian theatres such as La Scala and the Teatro Massimo in Palermo) to the great works of the tradition such as Carmen, The Barber of Seville and Suor Angelica.
