The 1930s, swing and plenty of irony: musical theatre by Le Sorelle Marinetti

Non ce ne importa niente (“We Don’t Care a Bit”) is not a simple concert but a genuine piece of musical theatre, taking the audience on a journey back in time to the 1930s and 1940s.

Those were years of great unease, with dark clouds gathering on the horizon, but also years of longing for escape and carefree fun which – thanks to the stable of authors, singers and conductors of the E.I.A.R. (Ente Italiano Audizioni Radiofoniche, the Italian radio broadcasting body from which, like a phoenix, the RAI would later rise) – produced a repertoire of songs that still lift the spirits today.

And to think that in 1925 Mussolini said: “This radio will never work!”

Our guides on this journey are Le Sorelle Marinetti, a trio of truly special “girls” who, fascinated by the artistic and human experience of the Trio Lescano, step into the shoes of three young ladies of the 1930s to portray the society of the time through delightful sketches and to perform the greatest hits of those years in perfect falsetto and “harmonised singing”.

The Sisters are Turbina Marinetti (Nicola Olivieri, actor and lyric chorister), Mercuria Marinetti (Andrea Allione, actor, singer and dancer) and Scintilla Marinetti (Marco Lugli, actor and singer).
